Staying positive and mindful when on social media has become such a challenge for countless people nowadays. Social media is the current boom that everyone is still learning to deal with. The anxiety people suffer when on social media has become such a major issue nowadays.

I have often noticed so many older people talk about social media, its benefits and how fortunate the younger people are to have this unlimited exposure to the world and its happenings. They love the way we can connect to our friends as well as to our idols with just a tap on the screen. This very social media has brought the world a whole lot closer than it ever was by killing geographical distances.

Scrolling through our social media feed is what most of us do so many times a day. The amount of people we are connected with is huge. Many a times, we come across a post from the many ‘nearly perfect moments’ of our connections which gives rise to negative feelings. If you struggle to achieve the balance of your emotions when on social media, here are some tips that can make you feel positive;

1. Remember – There is a life beyond social media:

“Make your life simple,
Know what is important,
Disconnect with the virtual,
Connect with nature.”

Social media feed can be just as perfect as your dreams – It can bring you across many happy and colourful posts, pictures and stories that can make your own life seem dull. But it is during these moments that you must not forget the beauty of the life around you – the comfort and joy of your home, the warmth of an evening with your closest peers, the calming walk in your neighbourhood etc. Life is not only made of photos but with experiences and the moments that you have experienced, matter the most.

2. Post about the happy things:

“Don’t let your ice cream melt while you are counting someone else’s sprinkles. Focus on your own good.”

Studies have revealed that people who post about happy stuff, motivating and uplifting content, tend to feel a lot happier and contented with their lives. Also social media uses algorithms that identify what kind of content you post often and shows similar sponsored content in your feed. So when you post about positive stuff you tend to come across more sunshine on social media! 🙂

3. Avoid your haters or people who criticize:

“Watch out for the joy stealers – gossip, criticism, complaining, fault-finding & a negative judgemental attitude.”

This is so very essential. Let go of people who criticize you on social media. Having haters around you even if it is just on social media is unhealthy and will make you feel worthless about yourself. Haters are simply not worth staying in contact with. Staying in touch with them will only give you more feelings of negativity.

4. Do not make social media one of your mood shifters:

“Find something great that you are passionately excited about and keep tremendously interested in it.”

Mood shifters are things that do simply as their name says – Shift moods. Whenever we are tired, upset or disturbed, we all have our own list of mood shifters we turn to. If social media is one such mood shifter for you, you should try to find some other option. Staying dependent on social media to get your mood right is like handing over the reins to your feelings over to social media – Your feelings will change with the content that you come across. Learn to look at social media as something fun and do not take things personally or depend on it to make you happy.

5. Comparison – Nip it in the bud:

“Comparison isn’t just the thief of joy, it is the thief of everything. Keep your eyes on your purposeful path. Celebrate others. Cultivate gratitude over comparison. Gratitude turns what we have into more than enough.”

The number one thing that leads to negativity on social media is comparison. Getting into the trap of comparison is something that will make you compare the value of your life against that fancy Instagram feed that you came across. Everyone has their own moments – good or bad. Learn to appreciate them without trying to reach any conclusions or judgements.

6. Find your social media ‘Tribe’:

“Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it your family. Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.”

The importance of finding your ‘Tribe’ cannot be overstated ever, even when online. Find people who make you feel positive, fill you with the desire to excel at what you do, help you connect with your passion and create that important place in your heart. Connect with these gems – they are the ones who make social media feel like a boon!

7. Express Gratitude:

“Gratitude helps you see your rainbows over the thunderstorms.”

Gratitude is something that is so important when it comes to maintaining a positive mindset towards life. Use social media to express your gratitude towards someone who helped you, made you believe in the beauty of life again. This is one life skill that everyone should learn in order to create miracles in your life.

Give these tips a try. They will definitely help you see social media in a positive light!

Love, Pooja.

I guess the topic I have chosen to write on today is one to which everyone can relate to at some point of time in life or the other. Today I am listing down my favourite ways to beat stress and to unwind after a stressful day.

All of us, including me, juggle through so many activities on a day to day basis. You can feel this amplified if you live in a fast paced city or environment! Irrespective of whether you are a homemaker or a working individual, each one has to complete multiple tasks daily.

This can leave us completely anxious and feeling tensed even before the day comes to an end. The stress to get through so many tasks sucessfully can get to us & God forbid if things get tough! Situations like these end up piling more stress on our already stressed system and sends majority of our positivity flying out of the window.

Sometimes we end up holding up this stress for a long time, even after the stressful situation has long passed. This is unhealthy, both for the body as well as the mind. It is even bad for our relationships as we sometimes end up passing on our stress to them.

Holding up stress is something we all must avoid and learn to let go of. Understand that no human being is perfect and neither is life. We all learn through our mistakes and get better. Unfortunately it isn’t as easy as saying it is..

Here are 10 of my tried and tested ways to wind down after a stressful day which you can try out as well;

1. Listen to music – I still haven’t met someone who is not moved by the power of music. Listening to music has even been scientifically proven to alleviate stress and anxiety. Even a single personal favourite song can reduce stress and feelings of anxiety. So be sure to keep those headphones and a playlist handy! If you can, you can also perform a search online for songs that have been known to reduce anxiety and add them to your playlist! One such song is ‘Weightless’ by Marconi Union. It has been known to reduce anxiety by over 65 percent!

2. Repeat affirmations – Affirmations are great at reducing feelings of negation. I love them and have a big collection of them. I go through some of them every other day, irrespective of whether I am stressed or not, as reading them gives me joy and leaves me feeling happier and with a purpose. It has become a part of my weekly routine! Sharing one of my favourites here by Carly Marie from Redbubble;

3. Go through self help books or a chapter of your favourite book – Self help books are real gems. One of my favourite books which helps me wind down is ‘The Secret’ by Rhona Bryne. Just going through one chapter, or even a paragraph, makes me feel better and works wonders in shifting my thoughts. J. K. Rowling also makes my stress ‘magically’ disappear! One way you can use this tip is by having an ebook copy of your favourite book in your smartphone. Nothing better than having your favourite book handy with you!

4. Practice gratitude on a regular basis –Practicing gratitude makes you realise the things that are of ‘real’ importance in your life! Do this exercise every morning or at night, while going to bed and I am sure that you will see a positive change in yourself. Some people find it helpful if they list the things they are grateful for. If you are one of those, make a list of things that you feel are irreplaceable in your life, things or people whom you just cannot do without. Write those things down and make a list – make it as colourful and appealing as possible. Use handmade paper and make it attractive. Keep it with you and read through when you feel your stress building up!

5. Watch a funny TV show or any of your choice – Watching one’s favourite TV series, preferably funny ones, can help one wind down after an incredibly stressful day! I personally find it very helpful in shifting my thoughts which have built up from a stressful situation. It works to reduce stress in a very similar way as listening to music does.

6. Listen to a TED talk – I love TED talks as each one carries soo much of wisdom! They also have these talks categorised into playlists and have some for every mood. For eg. if you are feeling musical or when you are looking for some inspiration etc. If you haven’t listened to one already when stressed, I suggest you to do so soon! I am sure you will get hooked, just like me! 😊

7. Go for a walk – There is rarely something that a walk cannot clear up – especially issues of the mind! Walking for just ten minutes can help clear your mind’s stress and is beneficial for your physical health as well. The outdoors can work wonders and help get rid of your stress.

8. Catch up with close friends – Spending time with the people who always look out for the best when it comes to you, the ones who are part of ‘your tribe’, are the ones who you can approach if you are finding it difficult to deal with stress on your own. Sometimes even a simple call to a trusting and helpful friend can relieve your stress! Never be afraid to reach out for help when you need it – We are social beings and can sometimes simply need to be among our caring friends to feel better!

9. Practice deep breathing – Although it sounds like something we do everyday, deep breathing is a thing we rarely practice properly. When stressed, take some time to sit in a quiet place and breathe deeply and slowly. Focussing on your breath is known to help control your emotions. Notice how we tend to breath rapidly when angry or frustrated. It is the same with being calm, deep breathing forces our emotions to tip towards relaxing down.

10. Pick up a mini project related to your passion – Doing something you love is the best way to keep holding stress away. Maybe you had though of creating that lovely dreamcatcher and had put the project away because you didn’t have time for it; find time for it now. Start that painting you had wanted to create, even if you aren’t an artist! The possibilities are endless and the activities you are passionate about are so very doable! Talk about venting out your stress creatively! 😊

Each of these ways have helped me deal with stress effectively! If some of these are new to you, I suggest that you give them a try if ever a stressful situation does arise. After all, our mental wellbeing is responsible for the quality of our life. Through this blog, I wish to make everyone see life through rose tinted glasses! 💫

Wish you a positive day! Love, Pooja. 😊

Hello everyone!

Hope you have all had a positively charged week! 😊

This week I have been working on several blog-related things aside from working. From learning on how to create content for my blog’s Facebook page to starting up on Instagram as well as working on a couple of posts, I have tried to get my hands on as much precious learning material as I can!

In the midst of this extensive learning journey, I was pleasantly surprised to be nominated for the Real Neat Blog Award! So, Reflection of Des has nominated me for this ‘neat’ award with a flowery and colourful badge. 😃 Have added an additional badge for the same award here above but the original one is the one below!

Thank you so much Destiny of Reflection of Des! It’s an honour to know that you appreciate my blog and like it enough to have nominated me. To all the others, do pay a visit to her blog. It is an amazing blog where she blogs about various interesting topics and aspects of life! It’s a real joy going through her blog!

Coming straight to the rules:

  1. Put the award logo on your blog. ✔
  2. Thank the people or person who nominated you, linking to their or his or her blog(s). ✔
  3. Answer 7 questions asked by the person who nominated you.
  4. Nominate any number of bloggers you like, linking to their blogs.
  5. Let them know you nominated them.(by commenting on their blog, etc)
  6. Ask your nominees 7 questions.

Going further to get all the points ticked off, my nominees are:

I like all the awesome blogs out there but will add in a few names here! Others who wish to participate can do so! 😊

  1. Maggie of Dreaming of Guatemala (I know that she is on a blogging break for a couple of weeks, but yes, I love her blog!)
  2. Shruti of This is lit! Love how really neat her blog is.
  3. Sandhya from Indian & Indian fusion cooking. Beautiful photos of amazing food!
  4. Crazy sober girl. It’s a real neat blog!

Questions for my nominees:

  1. What or who acts as your major inspiration when it comes to blogging?
  2. What kind of blogs or blog posts do you love to go through?
  3. What do you consider an ideal present? Which can, according to you, surprise you?
  4. Are you a believer when it comes to miracles?
  5. What is your biggest dream that you want to see fulfilled?
  6. Name three things that you cannot live without!
  7. Do you have someone who’s stuck by you through thick and thin? If yes, send him or her a small message saying how grateful you are to have them in your life!

Here are my answers to the interesting questions asked to me:

Q.1. What’s the toughest situation you had to go through?

A. That was when my dad passed away unexpectedly. He was the pillar that held our family firmly in place and everything seemed to go haywire afterwards. It was tough to come to terms with the harsh reality of life for me as I was young at that time.

Q.2. Has blogging changed your life?

A.  Yes absolutely! It has definitely impacted my life positively in so many ways that it is difficult to describe in a few words. I can say that it is a lovely journey that has given me purpose to look forward to each day! 😊

Q.3. What’s your daily routine?

A. On weekdays, I start early every morning (Actually I am an early riser, be it any day!) as I have to get to work and have a 9 to 6 job. I then spend about an hour winding down from the hustle and bustle from the day. Sometimes, working on my blog also helps me wind down. I later spend some time working on my blog and catching up on some reading, listening to music or watching TV. Weekends are spent doing a lot more of doing what I love, reading, blogging, spending time with my family and pets, painting, etc. I can rarely be found at any social events or so and prefer to sometimes hang out with a handful of my close friends.

Q. 4. What are things that help you relax?

A. Being at home is the number one thing that gets me completely relaxed! Listening to music is another thing that recharges me. Reading books, especially going through the Harry Potter series, never fails to help me relax! I like learning new stuff as well and a new project relaxes me.

5. What’s your favorite meal to cook?

A. I am not much of a cook and am learning as I agree that this is a much needed life skill! I love to cook pasta, vegetables and make vegetable rice though. I like to bake a lot more than cook!

6. Are you a bookworm or writer?

A. Earlier I would have said that I am, hands down, a bookworm! Now that I blog, I am a bookworm who’s slowly blossoming into a writer as well! I guess all writers are first passionate readers.

7. Who’s the most important person in your life?

A. My mom! She inspires me and also turns into my critic time & time again!

So that’s it with the award and the rules! Hope you all have an amazing Saturday!

This week, I have also completed a whole new, crazy yet fun-filled first week on this blog’s Instagram account life_rosetinted! Instagrammers! Do check it out!

Wish you loads of positivity! Love, Pooja! 😊

Hello everyone!

It’s Saturday today. The awaited ‘weekend’ is finally here.

So, why the awaited weekend, you might ask. Since I have started blogging, I have realised the true importance of living in the moment, being positively present in each moment. As much as I love practicing this, weekends are also another story altogether! 😊

To all of us, the weekend has a different meaning. Some people might spend this weekend working, while others might be going off to celebrate it with their friends and loved ones – the list of weekend activities is endless! Everyone loves them as they have something good in store for everyone!

Here’s why I love weekends!

Reason number 1.

Weekends mean two, long, blissful days at my favourite place – ‘Home’! I love to be at home. Weekends spent at home charge me up and fill me with happiness and motivation. It is my personal ‘me’ space. All I do is read a really good book, find out what to blog about, watch a little tv, organise a bit or get crafty with a unique project to get in the best of spirits! I can go on and on about the joys of being at home, but maybe in another post! 😉

Reason number 2.

Spending time with people I love and doing the things I love to is another great thing about weekends. Working throughout the week can leave very little time to spend with the people who really matter. My weekends are beautiful because I get to spend quality time with my family – even if it is just to go out together to buy the groceries! 😊 Also throughout the week, I can barely spend time with my two little rays of sunshine – my goldfish! Weekends are spent enjoying lovely moments with those two!

Reason number 3.

Getting some quality time gives one a chance to brush up on some skills as well as to learn something new. This can help one achieve future goals as well as find something entirely new to obsess about – as we cannot know about all the amazing things there are on the planet already, can we? It can light that fire within you to get better at your work as well! Weekends are amazing to learn chunks of new information at a pace we are comfortable with.

This weekend, I am going to do just a little bit of all these three! Some of my activities include;

  1. Looking up for ways that can make my blog better.
  2. Completing a milestone for a course in HTML and CSS I have recently taken up. Going through a few books on that subject too.
  3. Spending time with my adorable pets and family!
  4. Browsing through some blogs that always inspire me to do better! (Will let you in on that list one day!)
  5. Spending some interruption free ‘me’ time’.
  6. Reading up a book that I have completed halfway. (It does happen when one is busy!)
  7. Maybe plan a short outing with my family.

So, that is what I will be doing this weekend! What are your plans? Do share in the wonderful details!

Have a positive weekend. Love, Pooja. 😊

Hello everyone!

Its been a while since the last time I hit publish on a post! Hope you have had a lovely and positive week so far. If not, I am sure that things will turn out to be better! You can do it right!

On coming straight to the blog post here, I am sure that the title must have made you think. There are a lot of contradictory opinions on this topic. Many a people, ok, maybe sometimes, even me, believe that happiness is only possible when things are going right for us. Unless we come across that cloud with a silver lining, we do not truly feel happy from deep within. It is only human to feel this way.

But, does happiness really depend on money? Can the existence of money in our lives guarantee happiness?

If you feel that it does, let me tell you that the most beautiful smile I have ever seen is on the innocent face of a child who knows nothing about money. Reflecting back on my memory of this happy child made me question what I used to believe!

Sure, money can buy you items that can ensure that you have a wholesome life. It can rarely buy the moments that can make one ecstatic or give one that warm glow of being happy. It can only buy you something that can make someone happy. So if your happiness is gaining money, you can find happiness with money!

Happiness is an emotion. It is priceless. No amount of money can buy us any happiness. One has to take that one crucial step on the journey to happiness if he or she wants to find any of it on their life path!

Science and the bestseller, ‘The Secret’, point out that having an attitude to gratitude and positivity help attract the life of our dreams. This shows that embracing positivity and happiness in spite of having even a few reasons to, leads to increased happiness.

Let’s all have a thankful and a grateful heart for all things that contribute to even a tiny thing in our lives. That way, we will never run out of healthy moments of happiness!

Here’s some wednesday wisdom on the topic;

Money can buy you a fine dog but only love can make him wag his tail.

You aren’t rich unless you have something that money cannot buy.

I have learnt how much happiness only money can bring you, very little.

Money can’t buy happiness, neither can poverty. Only a thankful heart can embrace it.

Money alone can’t buy happiness. It can buy something that brings happiness.

There is no correlation between happiness and amounts of money.

Money isn’t everything but happiness is.

Any thoughts on this topic? Do let me know!
Have a positive day! Love, Pooja.

Hello everybody!

Just sharing some brief events of yesterday here today! Yesterday was definitely one lovely day out here in Mumbai – especially one worth sharing details about!

Monsoons have officially started here. It has been really beautiful to see sunlight filtering through the window one second only to be replaced by gray clouds in the next! This weather pattern will now officially continue well into mid-August.

This is precisely why yesterday night, it felt great to be tucked in into my cosy place after having spent most of the evening waddling through watery roads and streets on the way home from work! And I must add, this was definitely one of life’s little pleasures! 😊

Yesterday’s enchantment didn’t just end here! It also marked the arrival of a book from one of my favourite authors that I had prebooked earlier. It has been launched on the 29th of May and I am so excited to be having it with me, here, now! It was my special book Thursday! 😃

It’s titled, ‘Sita – Warrior of Mithila‘.

Written by Amish, this book is book number 2 from the Ram Chandra Series. Amish is previously well known for his Shiva trilogy series which had a gripping storyline.

These series tell us the story from the Era of Lord Ram. Book 1 of these series was released about more than a year ago which left all the readers on an interesting turn in it’s story almost begging for more!

So yesterday night was spent in indulging in the things I love! A rainy day, a cosy reading nook and a lovely book! What else could a girl want? Especially one who loves to read! 😊

So that’s it regarding yesterday. Today has already arrived and it is meant to be another beautiful day, full of interesting surprises I am sure! Any particular event that made yesterday special for you? Do let me know. Let’s celebrate life’s little pleasures! 😊

Wish you a beautiful day. Love, Pooja!

Hello readers,
Mondays mean fresh starts but for some of us they can trigger anxiety and the Monday blues!

Being anxious isn’t harmful, we all experience anxiety at some point in our lives. Getting over it and not letting it interfere with our daily routine and mood should be under our control.

When our anxiety gets a grip over us, it gives birth to feelings like fear and doubt. These very fears and doubts are known to be responsible for killing more dreams than failure ever can. Fear of failure arises only when one fixates over the end result and not over the journey towards success.

But why fear failure?

Failure is success in progress. – A. Einstein.

I haven’t failed, I have just found 10,000 ways that don’t work. – Thomas Edison.

This is what two of the greatest minds in history thought about failure! If they didn’t fear it, why should we?

To get your inner confidence shining brightly, I have brought you a mantra this Monday!

“Inhale confidence, exhale doubt!”

Simple, isn’t it? Say it to yourself today! Repeat it while you breathe to give you the confidence to do whatever you set your mind to! Remember that doubt will stop you every time you decide to take an action. Exhale and let it go.

Inhale confidence and do whatever it takes to achieve your task at hand. Believe that you can do it! Divide your work or activity into small, simpler and doable tasks and tackle each one of them, step by step. This practice will help you understand and complete any task in a better way. Writing down relevant points will also help you remember stuff better and let you think in an organized way. Try it, it works!

If you suffer from Monday blues, go through one of my previous articles and see if it helps you by clicking here. Till more tips follow! 😊

Go ahead and own this week with confidence.

Keep rocking and stay happy! Love, Pooja.

Hello readers!

It’s monday today! This day marks the start of another eventful week of work which is why getting worked up and anxious is but natural.

Wishing to start every week on a happy note? Get rid of those monday blues now by reading through these quick fixes guaranteed to get you cheerful in no time!

  1. Figure out why you dread ‘the Mondays’ – Stop dreading Mondays right now! Realise that monday is just like any other day, which it actually is. Try to zero in on what exactly is making you dread Mondays. A little self introspection can help here. Is the dread related to not getting to office on time? Set your alarm a bit earlier than usual and see how it works for you. Is it because of your work? Try to get the issue resolved to get rid of the monday blues! Figuring the cause for your dread will help you solve this problem once and for all!
  2. Schedule a fun activity – Notice how we look forward to the fun activities we schedule? Who said that fun can be only had on weekends? If you have a relatively free monday evening coming up, schedule something fun to look forward to after work! Go shopping or watch a movie which you have been planning to watch for quite some time now. Meet up some friends for a quick get-together or binge on tv!
  3. Meditation or exercise – These are great at eliminating the feeling of dread and replacing them with positive feelings. Meditation and exercise boost your happiness levels and decrease stress. They increase the blood supply throughout the body and make you feel refreshed and energetic. These help boost your immune system, increase your strength as well as cut the flab! All in all, a great package to try out.
  4. Listen to music – Listen to good music, one with motivating and uplifting lyrics! Researchers have found out that musical beats affect out heartbeats and thereby affect our mood. This activity is also said to be a complete workout for the brain as it improves your memory, your listening skills, decreases pain, aids in sleep issues and so on. So what are you waiting got? Go grab those headphones now!
  5. Go walking –  There are a few things that cannot be cured by a simple walk. Walking is great for both physical and mental health. About 5 minutes are also enough for your body to show anti-anxiety effects!

Try these methods to beat your monday blues in no time and do let me know if they worked for you! They sure do work for me! You don’t even need any expensive stuff to indulge in all these. Know something else that works even better for you? Let me know!

    Let’s have happier Mondays!

    Love, Pooja.

    Hello!

It’s Mother’s day today! A day celebrated in order to respect the women who have taken up the daunting task of motherhood!

Being a mother is a full time job for both working women as well as homemakers. Every mother faces many challenges on her journey but seems to forget them all, just on seeing her child smile!

My mom is everything to me. Without her I would have had no existence as she is the one who has given me this gift of life itself! She is a strong woman who has done everything that is possible to help me have a happy and healthy life! I wish to be like her someday. If I do, nothing can make me prouder! 😊 Love you a lot, Mom!

    Hello!

It has been less than a month since I started my blog, Life – Rose-Tinted, and I am thankful to you all for all your likes, comments and support! I truly appreciate it! You truly inspire me to do better with each passing day!

For today’s blog post, I have decided to go ahead with the Thursday thoughts theme.

I love reading thoughts as they help us become better people. They are an entire knowledge source within themselves. This is why I am sharing some of my favourite thoughts with you. Simply a collection of some lovely thoughts which I love reading through again and again. Going through them will give you that much-needed boost for the day and fill you with purpose and inspiration!

Read on for some food for thought –

‘Thousands of candles can be lighted from one single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.’

‘If you have the power to make someone happy, even if it is to bring a smile to their faces, do it! The world needs more of that.’

    ‘Shared joy is double joy.’

‘To fall in love with yourself is the first secret to happiness.’

‘A meaningful life is not being rich, being popular, being highly educated, or being perfect. It’s about being real, being humble, being able to share ourselves and touch the lives of others.’

‘Happiness is letting go of what you think your life is supposed to look like and celebrating it for everything that it is.’

‘There is no path to happiness, happiness is the path.’

‘We all have a unique art, a personal passion that serves as a vessel through which our souls speak. True happiness is found by filling it and purpose is fulfilled by pouring it out.’

‘Optimism is a happiness magnet. If you stay positive, good things and good people will be drawn to you.’

‘Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart than a piece of our mind.’

‘It’s all contained within the little things in life.’

‘Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light!’

‘I AM, are the two most powerful words. For what you put after them shapes your destiny.’

What do you think about these thoughts? Take some moments to reflect over these. Let me know about some of your favourites too! Wish you all a thoughtful Thursday!

    Love, Pooja.
