So what is colour therapy & how can it help curb anxiety? To begin with I am sure that many people suffer from anxiety, after all anxiety is something we all feel at some point of time in our lives. When these feeling resurface time & time again & are triggered easily, it is then when that anxiety needs to be curbed. But this is all easier said than done.

Anxious & me? I can describe my own self as a very anxious person. Trying something new, taking big chances, facing crossroads, etc all make me anxious at the start. I figured that my anxiety stemmed from a feeling that I might not do well enough when faced with something new or a might lose an opportunity to prove myself. In the end, after I calmed myself down, I managed to do the tasks very well. In fact, I felt that if I had not been so very anxious in the first place I would have managed to do better at the task at hand.
In fact, I even tried to tell myself not to get anxious but that ended up making me feel more anxious!

No overnight revelations! After all this talk, I am not going to go ahead & tell you that all this changed overnight because IT DID NOT! I still struggle with anxiety & I have accepted it as a part of who I am. I can say that meditation, journaling, listening to songs & colour therapy helped me a lot!

Let’s talk about anxiety. According to the oxford dictionary, anxiety can be defined as a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease about something with an uncertain outcome, strong desire or concern to do something or for something to happen.
Anxiety is one of the most common mental illnesses throughout the globe. In spite of this there is no right or wrong path to help alleviate it! Curbing anxiety is very personal activity.

So what does colour therapy do? Colour therapy is something that as I mentioned earlier has helped me a lot! It is based on the science of colours! Each colour of the spectrum is said to affect us & our moods. Science states that every colour has a vibration which can break apart the disturbances in our body & restore balance & vitality. Hues of the colours orange, red, yellow, green & blue all contain vibrations that can help alleviate anxiety. This is why a walk amidst nature or just looking at the sky can make you feel good & make your anxious feeling run away!

How can I apply colour therapy? Now that you know the colours, what can you do with them?

You can simply wear something that incorporates the colour, have a drink of that colour, surround yourself with that colour or keep a small but significant mood shifter along with you which has that colour! Keep in mind that not all colours work for everyone! Each person has one colour that strongly uplifts them. Find it out by trying out a visualisation technique – close your eyes and imagine each colour of those colours in front of your eyes one by one! The colour which makes your spirits lift is the one for you!

Another way that scientists have recommended is to use ‘colouring books’! There is something very soothing about colouring away, filling up those blank spaces with our favourite solid colours that just makes time fly away! This activity alone has helped curb anxiety upto significant levels as proved by actual tests. The activity of colouring away, makes the brain stay in the present moment. It is said to help the amygdala (the part of the brain that deals with anxiety, panic attacks, stress and depression) switch on to a sort of a ‘relaxation mode’. Regular colouring can actually help the amygdala go into repeated relaxation states thereby helping curb anxiety in the long run!

If you do suffer from anxiety, do try some of the above techniques! Do get yourself a colouring book & colour away! Let me know if you have any other aspects of colour therepy to add to these & let me know how these worked for you!

Hello everyone!

Hope that this week has started off on a positive and a more-than-kind note for you! 🙂

Today’s post is an update on my blogging journey. It has been a little more than two months (around two weeks less to three months!) since I began this blog. This post is a bit like my last blog update post (it can also consist of some tested blogging advice), the one which describes my experiences throughout my first month of blogging. If you haven’t read that one already, do so here!

Irrespective of everything I have experienced on this exciting journey, let me start off by telling you all that my blogging journey has been amazing so far and it continues to make me happy! Blogging has given me a reason to look forward to every single day. It has been made all the more exciting and like-able, thanks to all you lovely and supportive bloggers out here!

Coming back to the update, most of June and half of July was spent thinking over the following questions which every blogger encounters;

  1. Should I get my blog self-hosted? If yes, which hosting platform should I opt for?
  2. Content generation and content promotion! (Most important – as it is quality, consistent content that will get readers interested in any blog.)
  3. Should I commit to a blog challenge?
  4. How often should I write down a blog post?
  5. Is there any way to make my blog more appealing by using another theme, opting for better pictures, getting my own ones, better lettering, etc?

The answers to some of which I am sure I will receive with time and further blogging experience!

I feel privileged that during this month, I received tons of helpful blogging advice and tips from many bloggers running their blogs successfully. I admit that I did post a lesser number of blog posts during this last month because I was a little preoccupied with a lot of issues related to my blog and gathering this wealth of information! 🙂

This month I started off by establishing a social media existence for my blog namely; a Facebook page for this blog – ‘Pooja’s rose tinted glasses‘ and an Instagram handle – life_rosetinted! Make sure that you check these out by clicking on the links above and follow me if you are interested! 🙂

Amidst all this, some striking things that I learnt during this period are as follows:

  1. The importance of a blog schedule: Consistent and planned content generation is important which is where scheduling what goes up on your blog when is so important.
  2. The importance of finding your tribe: Your tribe consists of the people who love reading what you share and would love to engage with your content. It is extremely important to think over the ideal person who you feel will be interested in your blog. This helps create and craft specific targeted content.
  3. Be you to keep your blog running successfully: Your tribe loves to engage in your posts because of you and your content so give them more of that. Being original gives your blog quality audience.
  4. It is okay to run out of ideas only to be so full of them the next second: No explaining needed for this one!
  5. Quality over quantity: Writing down one post containing well structured quality content is always better than writing down five okay ones!

Another thing I have realized is that setting down some goals will help take my blog another valuable step ahead than where it stands at the end of each month! I have thus decided to go slow and break down bigger goals into smaller ones to have steady progress (as it doesn’t make sense to simply set big monthly goals – might just stress me out!) So some of my do-able goals for the coming month are;

  1. Learning and creating at least one useful printable (freebie)!
  2. Treating my blog as an important business.
  3. Structuring quality content.
  4. Increasing my engagement with other bloggers.
  5. Look up on guest posting and decide if I should go for it.

I hope to achieve these goals successfully and set new ones in the next update post! 🙂 Wish me luck!

Another thing – I would love to know what goals you are setting for your blog(s), social media accounts etc. and what actions are you taking to achieve them. Would probably help me know a lot more about your blogging journey and blogging in general! Let us all inspire and motivate each other to blog better and grow as better bloggers! 🙂

Wish you a fantastic day! Love, Pooja. 🙂

Hello everyone!

Hope you are having a relaxing Sunday!

Today is a special day for every father and child – It’s International father’s day! Just like any other such occasions, I have been coming across father’s day plans, ideas, gift options & freebies exclusively for dads propping up everywhere throughout the week.

Today, children are displaying their love for their fathers with gifts and cards and by spending quality time with them.

If you haven’t yet given your dad either of these and are lucky enough to be close to him, do so as soon as you finish reading this post! 😊

Today, dads have become the talk of the town. Everyone is exchanging fatherly tales and advice they have received from their fathers and are posting photos with them as well.

In the midst of this merry and loving environment, lie some of us, like me, who are a little less fortunate than others as they have lost their fathers or whose fathers are no longer a part of their lives.

For them, today this is just like any other day, only worse. For me, each day, especially father’s day, has never failed to make me cherish the moments I spent with him when he was still here. This day seems to be full of bittersweet moments, hope, longing and memories!

Although I will never get the chance to create more happy memories with him as he went away too soon, I am thankful for his presence in my life, however short! I feel blessed to have had a caring and loving father. I was the apple of his eyes.

I would suggest everyone who are fortunate enough to receive their dad’s love and care, to value and to cherish your relationship with him! Give him some of your time or atleast give him a call to ask him how his day has been. I am sure that this tiny thing will make his day a lot happier! 😊

To all the fathers in heaven, you will be missed and remembered and will always hold an irreplaceable place in our hearts! 😊

Wish all the fathers around the world a very happy Father’s day! Your children love you a lot and they need you to complete their lives! 😊

A special mention to all the single mothers out there who single-handedly carry out the daunting task of mothering her children. Just like my mother! Happy Father’s day to you all too!

“Father – A son’s first hero, a daughter’s first love.”

“God himself chose to be called as father.”

“How do you know if a man is a hero? Ask if he has a daughter.”

“The love between a father and a daughter is forever.”

“A father is someone who carries pictures where his money used to be.”

“Some super heroes don’t wear capes.. They are called Dads.”

Love, Daddy’s girl – Pooja.

Hello everyone!

Hope you have had a good week! It’s already Saturday morning and for me, the week just seemed to fly away.

I haven’t been able to write as much as I wanted to this week but I will try my best to make it up in the next one!

Last week, Maggie of dreaming of Guatemala nominated me for the Cramm Award in one of her award posts. This is why, today’s post is going to be related to my nomination for the Cramm Award!

The Creator of the Cramm Award: Liv at theCramm is the creator! The Cramm is an awesome website which converts everyday news into an easier to read through format. Do check it out!

Nominator: Maggie of dreamingofGuatemala! She is an amazing individual and I always look forward to her blog posts. This award, coming from her, is very special for me! 😊

Rules for the Cramm Award:

  1. Include a little bit about who created this award (with a link) and mention the person the who nominated you.
  2. Share 3 things that motivate you to blog and share 3 people who motivate you to blog as well
  3. Share one thing you hope to do that will improve the world.
  4. Answer your challenge question
  5. Nominate your choice of bloggers and give them a challenge question

Three Things That Motivate Me To Blog:

  1. The exchange of thoughts – A big reason that motivates me to blog is the fact that blogging introduces my thoughts and ideas to other bloggers. The interaction with other bloggers irrespective of the the topics they blog on is something that I enjoy!
  2. A chance to help others notice life’s little pleasures – I love it when people like what I write or at least feel a little happy when I share my experiences with them.
  3. The enormous number of quality blogs based on varied topics! – Of course! I can never leave out all those awesome bloggers out there. The internet is flooded with so many of them whose writing motivates me and makes me challenge myself when it comes to writing!

Three People Who Inspire Me To Blog:

    1. My mom  My mother inspires me to do so many things, including blogging! She has always supported every decision i have ever taken in my life and that alone is an inspiration for me to keep doing better each day!
    2.  My guiding angel – I am sure there is one who always guides me on my life path! My blogging journey is one such example – I created my website on the spur of the moment or rather it just happened without any prior planning. I had always wanted to start my blog but one evening, I simply decided to create a WordPress account and write out a blog post and hit the publish button! I think my guiding angel just gave me the push I needed to enter into the world of blogging! 😊
    3. Other bloggers – Ok, I know that other bloggers are not one person but they all are the ones who inspire me to blog and get better at it!

A big thank you to all these people! Without you, I wouldn’t have been able to write even a single word! 😊 💕

The one thing that can improve the world:

      Compassion –

“The most powerful force in the world that can change the lives of millions of people is Compassion.” – Steve Aitchison.

“Compassion is the wish to see others free of suffering.” – Dalai Lama.

I seriously feel that compassion is very important, has always been, especially at this point of time in the world. I have noticed that many people are sometimes insensitive when it comes to other people and their sufferings. People have developed a self-centric attitude and sometimes ignore to pay attention beyond their own self. Compassion is to become aware of another person’s suffering and to do your bit towards relieving the other person’s suffering and not to become the cause of another man’s suffering. A little bit of compassion and kindness has the ability to turn the world around! It has been scientifically proved that practicing compassion helps develop lasting happiness, the kind of happiness and self contentment that sticks around for a long time.

      My Answer to Maggie’s Question:

Question: What’s your favorite inspiring quote? Why does it inspire you?

      Answer: I love quotes and the messages they pass on to us. There are just so very mang ones that inspire me! But the following one has a big role in inspiring me;

“Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tip toe if you must but take that step.” – Uche Odiatu.

This quote never fails to inspire me to take that one step closer to my goal. We have all been in that place and moment in our lives where we were unable to figure out where to begin or what to do next. I have hesitated or quit doing something all together because of this dilemma. This quote taught me that my efforts, however small, can be enough to propel me in the right direction. This quote has helped me get through those times, has motivated and inspired me to take that tiny crucial step further.

      Nominations:

I seriously get inspired by all you bloggers out here and this is why am unable to select a few. My nominations are open to all so if anyone who wishes to go ahead and answer my question can do so! 😊

      My Question:

If you lived your life without any fear or restrictions, what is the one thing you would do to change the world?

Answer away! I would delight me to read your answers! 😊

Have a great weekend! Love, Pooja.

      Hello everyone!

Its been a while since the last time I hit publish on a post! Hope you have had a lovely and positive week so far. If not, I am sure that things will turn out to be better! You can do it right!

On coming straight to the blog post here, I am sure that the title must have made you think. There are a lot of contradictory opinions on this topic. Many a people, ok, maybe sometimes, even me, believe that happiness is only possible when things are going right for us. Unless we come across that cloud with a silver lining, we do not truly feel happy from deep within. It is only human to feel this way.

But, does happiness really depend on money? Can the existence of money in our lives guarantee happiness?

If you feel that it does, let me tell you that the most beautiful smile I have ever seen is on the innocent face of a child who knows nothing about money. Reflecting back on my memory of this happy child made me question what I used to believe!

Sure, money can buy you items that can ensure that you have a wholesome life. It can rarely buy the moments that can make one ecstatic or give one that warm glow of being happy. It can only buy you something that can make someone happy. So if your happiness is gaining money, you can find happiness with money!

Happiness is an emotion. It is priceless. No amount of money can buy us any happiness. One has to take that one crucial step on the journey to happiness if he or she wants to find any of it on their life path!

Science and the bestseller, ‘The Secret’, point out that having an attitude to gratitude and positivity help attract the life of our dreams. This shows that embracing positivity and happiness in spite of having even a few reasons to, leads to increased happiness.

Let’s all have a thankful and a grateful heart for all things that contribute to even a tiny thing in our lives. That way, we will never run out of healthy moments of happiness!

      Here’s some wednesday wisdom on the topic;

Money can buy you a fine dog but only love can make him wag his tail.

You aren’t rich unless you have something that money cannot buy.

I have learnt how much happiness only money can bring you, very little.

Money can’t buy happiness, neither can poverty. Only a thankful heart can embrace it.

Money alone can’t buy happiness. It can buy something that brings happiness.

There is no correlation between happiness and amounts of money.

Money isn’t everything but happiness is.

Any thoughts on this topic? Do let me know!
Have a positive day! Love, Pooja.

      Hello everybody!

Just sharing some brief events of yesterday here today! Yesterday was definitely one lovely day out here in Mumbai – especially one worth sharing details about!

Monsoons have officially started here. It has been really beautiful to see sunlight filtering through the window one second only to be replaced by gray clouds in the next! This weather pattern will now officially continue well into mid-August.

This is precisely why yesterday night, it felt great to be tucked in into my cosy place after having spent most of the evening waddling through watery roads and streets on the way home from work! And I must add, this was definitely one of life’s little pleasures! 😊

Yesterday’s enchantment didn’t just end here! It also marked the arrival of a book from one of my favourite authors that I had prebooked earlier. It has been launched on the 29th of May and I am so excited to be having it with me, here, now! It was my special book Thursday! 😃

It’s titled, ‘Sita – Warrior of Mithila‘.

Written by Amish, this book is book number 2 from the Ram Chandra Series. Amish is previously well known for his Shiva trilogy series which had a gripping storyline.

These series tell us the story from the Era of Lord Ram. Book 1 of these series was released about more than a year ago which left all the readers on an interesting turn in it’s story almost begging for more!

So yesterday night was spent in indulging in the things I love! A rainy day, a cosy reading nook and a lovely book! What else could a girl want? Especially one who loves to read! 😊

So that’s it regarding yesterday. Today has already arrived and it is meant to be another beautiful day, full of interesting surprises I am sure! Any particular event that made yesterday special for you? Do let me know. Let’s celebrate life’s little pleasures! 😊

Wish you a beautiful day. Love, Pooja!
