Hello everyone!

I started this blog in order to post content on happiness and how we can find it in today’s lifestyle. Happiness is a state of mind, a highly personal thing which should not depend on how your day was or how someone treated you.

With this blog, I wanted to reach out to anyone who needs to feel happier about life irrespective of circumstances. If my blog brings a small smile someone’s face, it is a huge satisfaction for me.

Which is why today’s day is so important to me – Today is 20th of March – The International Day of Happiness! Today is the perfect day to share my post on the above topic. Until more later….

So, what exactly is positivity? Positivity is described as the tendency to have and maintain a positive, optimistic attitude towards life. If only everyone looked at life through rose tinted glasses, by looking at each failure or a bad experience as an opportunity – The world would be such a better, brighter and a happier place!

The world truly needs happiness, especially now! Harvard has a Positive Psychology class attended by about 20% of its students which focuses on teaching students to enjoy life and it’s journey. What’s more, the UN has declared the International day of Happiness to be celebrated on the 20th of March every year! It was put into effect because of Jayme lllien, Adviser of the United Nations who felt that the pursuit to happiness should be recognized as a human right and an important human goal. The very purpose of this day has been to fulfill the vision of a happier world, one small step at a time. If positivity and happiness weren’t important why would the UN bring this day into effect?

In today’s world, newspapers, news channels, journalism, gossips, etc. all revolve around issues that invoke negative feelings. We all wake up to newspapers that highlight negativity almost (70% of the times) first thing in the morning. Isn’t that a depressing start to a day?

Nowadays we see so many people suffering from increased levels of stress resulting into physical ailments. Reports show that even today’s children have stress which makes positivity an even bigger necessity and a challenge than it has ever been. The levels of happiness and positivity are being measured worldwide, country wise, which proves the importance of positivity.

Positivity and happiness have unlimited potential and power within them, which are, if not all, a lot of what the world needs to dissolve away all such problems. Think over it, just one compliment, one motivational quote or even a single good moment we come across in an entire day makes us so happy. The positive vibes end up transforming our entire day magically into a great one!

Happiness and positivity and can make the world a better place as these emotions make people feel really good – from deep within, unlike negativity. They make us feel great about ourselves, gives us hope for a brighter tomorrow, lets us enjoy and fully live in this present moment, makes us realize what’s truly important in our lives and transfers this positivity to the people around us – our tribe, the people we all love!

If a single person gains such benefits from positivity, imagine the huge effect if will have if all of the world’s population does so – this effect will be multiplied a million fold, making this world a positively charged one!

Here are five simple things that we can do to embrace happiness and positivity on a personal level;

1. Practice gratitude for the things we already have. (Even one thing each day can suffice!)

2. Meditate and exercise (In order to calm and relax the soul and body respectively.)

3. Practice journaling in your emotions. (This will help you monitor your thoughts and feelings in a better way.)

4. Notice the little pleasures of life and feel the joy that these provide you. (The beauty of the rain, the butterflies, birds, the sky, a rainbow etc.)

5. Remind yourself that your only competition is you. (Don’t compare your life with anyone else’s, just try to be a better person than you were yesterday.)

Remember that ‘you’ are enough to start a revolution. Embrace positivity and share it so that the people around you will follow in. One step at a time is all that the world needs to take to make this world our happy home!

Wish you a positive life. Love, Pooja 🙂

Since I began my blogging journey, I have bagged a few handful nominations for a variety of Blogger Awards. In spite of this, each new nomination leaves me with a new found feeling of happiness and gratitude. Every blogger loves to have his or her hard work appreciated as so much of work is required to craft each of those ‘nearly perfect blog posts’! 🙂 It feels amazing to be recognized for doing something that you really love to do.

This time, it is Helen from ‘Natural beauty with baby’ who has nominated me for this ‘Blogger Recognition Award’. She is a ‘mommy blogger’ who is mommy to lovely Jonah! She has this lovely blog where she blogs about natural skincare and feel good stuff and about her life with her little one! Do pay her amazing blog a visit. Thank you so very much Helen for appreciating my blog – my creative space! I am grateful. 🙂 Check out her Blogger nomination post here!

Just like every blogger award, the Blogger Recognition Award also has some fun rules as stated below;
1.If you accept your nomination, follow these rules and join the fun!
2.Thank the blogger who nominated you and leave a link to their blog.
3.Write a post to show your award.
4.Give a brief story of how/why you started blogging.
5.Give two pieces of advice you would give to brand new bloggers.
6.Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to.
7.Comment on each blog letting them know you have nominated them, giving the link to the post you have created.

Since this award is regarding Blogging recognition, it requires answering some questions that will aid newbie bloggers on this fun yet daunting journey! So here I am, answering away;

Q.1.) Why did I start blogging?
Ans. Blogging was something that I wanted to start on for quite some time. In spite of this, I was completely confused over finding and sticking to my niche. I wanted to be able to post stuff that I came across in life and to give the people who read it, an account of my experiences so that they can relate and know that someone else feels the same way too. I wanted to be able to help others and spread the positive vibes (a lot of negativity all over the internet already!) At the same time, I wanted to stay true to myself and practice positivity and gratitude in my own life. All these things started making sense one day and made me realize that I could start a blog based on positivity and motivation. My wish to look at life through ‘rose tinted glasses’ helped inspire the name for my blog too! Once I had the clarity to know what I wanted, it all simply unfolded and lead to www.poojasrosetintedglasses.com .

Q 2.) Two pieces of advice for new bloggers!
a. Stay hungry when it comes to blogging – This always helps bloggers at all levels, especially new ones. Blogging can be daunting and even a small thing can feel like a task. If you need to grow as a blogger, it is always great to be curious about what’s new within the blogging sphere. It also helps to read up some posts from the well known bloggers out there so you know what you are getting into and can understand how to decide on what to write.
b. Be true to yourself – Even if you look up to your blogging idols, it is never a great idea to mimic someone else’s blog. Staying true to yourself is the best way to go along on your blogging journey. Grow your blog by staying true to your purpose which led you to start your blog. This will help you find your unique place in the blogging community. Be clear with your ideas and post consistently – this will help people to take you seriously as a blogger by letting them know that you want to do something unique.

My nominees for the Blogger Recognition Award:
Here are a few of my favourites; the talented fifteen bloggers with amazing blogs whom I truly adore and look up to; 🙂

1. Laura – Petals and chains
2. Kaelin – Living in Saturn
3. Chloe – Diary of a lonely girl
4. Cassie – Zombie Goddess Beauty
5. Bria – Tendril Wild
6. Bre – Too cute for life
7. The Thought Scroll – The Thought Scroll
8. Lydia – Mademoiselle Women
9. Em – Out of Tea Bags
10. Linda – Circle of Daydreams
11. Maggie – Dreaming of Guatemala
12. Rishabh – Beyond the veil
13. Shruti – This is lit
14. Charlotte – Charlotte shares
15. Kristin – A little loveliness

If you do not want to put out a similar post, I do understand. This is just a mention to let you all know that I lookup to your blogs! 🙂

Thanking Helen once again for this! 🙂

Hello everyone,

Hope everyone is having an amazing weekend! 🙂

I am having a great one and there is such a beautiful and a divine reason behind it! It is not just me, this weekend is special to all the people throughout India. It is because it is time to welcome our beloved deity, ‘Ganesha’ into our homes for the ‘Ganpati’ festival!

It is now day 2 of this festival (was too busy enjoying this festival yesterday to even write down this blog post)!

‘Ganesha’ has many names; rather he has 108 sanskrit names! We Hindus fondly call him as ‘Ganpati’, ‘Ganesha’, ‘Gajanana’ etc. This ‘elephant headed God’ holds a special place in our hearts. Irrespective of any religion or caste, people in Mumbai worship this Lord and participate in this festival with equal excitement. ‘Ganesha’ is a Hindu God who symbolizes new beginnings, success and prosperity. It is stated that he removes all obstacles in one’s path to success and helps him or her achieve their desires. He is believed to possess the knowledge 14 forms of education and 64 forms of art including dance, music etc; which is why people in India pray to him before beginning anything new.

The ‘Ganpati’ festival is my favourite festival and is one which brings me a lot of joy and happiness. It is 11 whole days long during which a lot of people bring home an idol of ‘Ganesha’ and worship him. The Lord is welcomed with a lot of love and anticipation and the idols are placed in a decorated area, prayed to and are offered simple yet elaborate meals, sweets etc. These are then distributed to everyone as ‘prasad’ or offerings. ‘Ganesha’s’ most favourite sweet is ‘Modak. It is a sweet made of rice flour with a filling of coconut and jaggery. These are prepared in every house during this festival and are my favourites too! Yum!

                                                                        Plate filled with Modaks.

In addition to people’s homes, almost every street in India celebrates this festival with great excitement and vigour. They build stages and structures to place Lord ‘Ganesha’s’ idol into the streets and decorate entire streets with lights. The most famous ones out of these are the ‘GSB Ganpati’ & the’LalBaugcha Raja’. It is really delightful to see such happiness and love for this beloved God all around. Traditional devotional music, sweets and offerings, beautiful ‘Ganesha’ idols, lights and everything else make the surrounding air hum with excitement and devotion for the lord.

I would like to end this post with some issues I have with the way people celebrate this festival. Some of the saddening parts are regarding the use of traditional music nowadays which is sometimes replaced with bollywood music and the use of the DJ system, which does not exactly blend well with the true spirit of this festival. Many people also fail to realize the harm that extremely loud music and DJ causes to the elderly citizens which does not allow them to fully enjoy this festival. Festivals are meant to be enjoyed by all which is why I wish that the people who use loud music and DJ’s would maintain that degree and level of humanity towards our elderly by strictly maintaining the sound levels to permissible limits and to what they can hear without disrupting other citizens and their peace.

Let us all, young and old alike, enjoy this festival by showing our love for the lord and by gathering his blessings!

Off to enjoy the festivities for now, will add in any updates later! Have a beautiful weekend with the ones you love. Love, Pooja. 🙂

Hello everyone!

Hope you all are having a lovely day! 🙂

This post is going to be just a tiny one announcing a time for bigger changes on my blog!

I am sure that the issue regarding going the self hosted way or not is such a dilemma for every blogger out here. There are so many people out here who advice bloggers to have a self hosted blog since day 1. I pondered a lot over that and have decided to self host my blog.

My last post here was about blog changes but I decided to get my blog on a self hosted platform just after! Not that I don’t love the features WordPress.com offers – I love them! It’s just that I would love to know more about self hosting and enjoy more freedom to do what I wish to with my blog. 🙂

I have changed my domain to www.poojasrosetintedglasses.com and my data has been migrated on the new site too as I do not wish to let go of all that I have shared here and start over with a new blog. The final touches are being added to it and it will soon become active! Yay!

I would love to have all of you there, and be able to hear from you as well which is why I will be trying to migrate all of you, i.e. my followers, to the new website through the JetPack Plugin. 🙂 This way we will keep seeing each other’s posts too!

I am a bit nervous about this but I guess this experience will be a really fun yet a learning one. 🙂

Have a positive day, Love Pooja.

Hello everyone!

Hope that you are having a good week! 🙂

This post is about the few changes that I made to my blog here. This beautiful image here is to show off my excitement (Yay!) 🙂

I was a bit skeptical about writing a blog post for this reason but it only made me feel that it was my duty to do so when it came to my loyal supporters and followers!

The change all started with the blog goals I set for myself for this month. If you don’t know about those, you can have a quick look over here.

In order to achieve my goal number 3 from that post; i.e. increasing my engagement with other bloggers, I started looking for ways to do so. I came across many people referring to Twitter as a great option, which is why last week I decided to increase my activity on my existing Twitter account on which I wasn’t active at all (just like so many people I know).

From my experience so far, let me tell you that Twitter has so many amazing bloggers and blogging communities who are as supportive as the WordPress community!

Twitter is where I met this amazing girl called Sophie who blogs over at https://socialinfluencer.co.uk/. She had an amazing offer up one day where she was offering free logos, headers and more for the 1st 50 people who responded to her Tweet! I was lucky enough to be one of them and she designed one for me for free right away! 🙂 I must say I am in love with it! Thank you so much Sophie! 🙂 If you wish to have beautiful headers and want to give your blog a makeover, do head over to her. Sophie’s your girl!

I slowly became a part of so many blogging communities on Twitter including the Girls Who Blog community; the one I guest posted on. I would love to mention the lovely blogging community, The Tea Cup Club, which actually let me ‘HOST’ my first ever Twitter blog chat and gave me the freedom to choose the topic too! I must say I was nervous at first but it was just so much fun! It was one of my many firsts since I started on my blogging journey!

Moving over to my theme! I loved the DIVI 2 theme which I had before! There was actually no problem with it but I just wasn’t satisfied with the way the posts were presented in little squares. I figured that it was because the DIVI 2 is for photographers and people who want to showcase and highlight their photos. I wanted a clean template which helped focus on my content for now which is why I decided to switch over to the Independent Publisher theme just yesterday and I am not disappointed. I love this theme! 🙂

In case you are thinking about making changes to your blog, I would urge you to go ahead and try out the many options available here on WordPress; am sure that you will find something that suits your liking.

So, that is actually it for today, until later! Do let me know about your thoughts regarding my new header and the theme! 🙂 Would love to know. Any suggestions are also welcome! 🙂 Also let me know what you think about Twitter and if you are on it, let’s connect! Click here!

Have a positive day! Love, Pooja! 🙂

Hello everyone!

Today is a day of great importance for all the Indians! It is India’s Independence day! Happy Independence Day to all the Indians out here! 🙂 Our country has officially spent 70 glorious years of being free.

According to the Oxford dictionary, the word Freedom means;

  1. freedom (of something) the right to do or say what you want without anyone stopping you.
  2. the state of being able to do what you want, without anything stopping you.
  3. the state of not being a prisoner or slave.
  4. the freedom of something permission to use something without restriction.

We need freedom at every step of our lives to be able to perform to the best of our abilities. This is of such crucial importance, especially to a country; which is why today is a national festival for all the Indians, including me, regardless of religion, caste, creed or any other difference.

My thoughts reach out to our brave freedom fighters and the many people who sacrificed their lives, dreams and families towards the purpose of achieving a bigger dream of a ‘free India’ into reality!

India has seen so many ups and downs from the moment it gained it’s independence and still continues to do so. We have so many things to be proud of across the globe but at the same time there are so many things that continue to pin us down, away from complete development.

India gave us the number ‘0’, the fundamental for the field of mathematics, it gave birth to the software industry out of nowhere, it has undertaken missions to Mars and to the Moon, was able to establish it’s own satellite system, taken up a drive towards a clean India and so on. We have a lot to be proud of!

As an Indian citizen as well as an Indian girl, I can say that there are still so many things that need to be done in order make the term ‘freedom’ really mean what it means to us! In spite of these notable achievements we still have grave issues to be tackled such as an extremely high economic difference between the rich and the poor, widespread unemployment issues, religious differences, gender inequality, lack of safety and security of its girls and a few more.

Here is one such link to an article I had written on the topic ‘Growing up girls’. It was an initiative by the World Pulse organization on the eve of the 5th annual international day of the girl child! Women all over the world had to submit an article, poem or any other content about women and how it was to grow up in their country and highlight the issues women faced globally.

On reading the entries posted there, I noticed that there are so many women that face similar problems irrespective of their country! It highlighted an issue that women need many laws to be implemented for the protection of their rights, safety and security; which is why I felt compelled to share my entry here – Growing up girls – My story as a woman with a voice in India!

Although I am fortunate enough to not to be affected by many of these issues, a lot of rural areas in India are still having a hard time tackling them. This Independence Day, I wish that India finds a sustainable solution for all these issues and make it a country every Indian is even more proud of!

Here’s to making India the land of fulfilled dreams for each of it’s citizens! Signing off on a poem by the respected Indian poet; Rabindranath Tagore from his collection of poems. This one speaks about his desire for an Independent India!

“Where the mind is without fear
and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been
broken up into fragments by
narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from
the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches
its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason
has not lost its way into the dreary
desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is lead forward by thee
into ever-widening thought and action-
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father,
let my country awake.”

Have a positive day, Love Pooja. 🙂

Hello everyone,

These past couple of days I have been enjoying the rain! Mumbai is being blessed with heavy rainfall and a handful of those who enjoy the rain love it here. 😊

It seems like the earth wishes to cleanse itself of all accumulated dust and cool off after a hard hot summer!

Getting out to work is a joy, even though it can be a hindrance when it comes to travelling as well as reaching the office in a completely dry state! 😅 Trudging through watery roads and streets marks the full fledged arrival of the rainy season!

These days, I love to glance out of my office windows and watch the raindrops covering the ground below! The strong winds, lush green trees and rain pouring down are a wonder to look at! They seem to remind me of the beauty and power of nature time and time again.

At home, I love to binge on my favourite TV series or cozily get buried into a favourite book! After all, this is what rains are for! 😊

Sometimes, if you are lucky enough, you can even spot a mesmerising rainbow in the sky. I haven’t yet seen one this year so am on the lookout for one!

While going through my social media during these days, I noticed that I am not the only one who speaks about rains with so much love. Here are some lines which try to describe the beauty and wonder of rain;

“The sound of rain needs no translation.”

“Some people feel the rain, others just get wet.”

“Rain showers my spirit and waters my soul.”

“Nothing better than the sound of heavy rain while you are falling asleep.”

“Raindrops are the perfect lullaby.”

“I love people who smile when it rains.”

“Let’s all get lost in a world of books, hot cocoa and rainy days.”

According to me, rain carries joy for all those who wait and listen to it! It is definitely one of the toppers on my list of life’s little pleasures!

I don’t know how many of you readers are actually experiencing rain out there where you reside but if you are, I would really like to encourage you to enjoy these lovely moments while they last! 😊

Enjoy the rain and have an amazing week ahead! Love, Pooja.

Hello everybody!

Just sharing some brief events of yesterday here today! Yesterday was definitely one lovely day out here in Mumbai – especially one worth sharing details about!

Monsoons have officially started here. It has been really beautiful to see sunlight filtering through the window one second only to be replaced by gray clouds in the next! This weather pattern will now officially continue well into mid-August.

This is precisely why yesterday night, it felt great to be tucked in into my cosy place after having spent most of the evening waddling through watery roads and streets on the way home from work! And I must add, this was definitely one of life’s little pleasures! 😊

Yesterday’s enchantment didn’t just end here! It also marked the arrival of a book from one of my favourite authors that I had prebooked earlier. It has been launched on the 29th of May and I am so excited to be having it with me, here, now! It was my special book Thursday! 😃

It’s titled, ‘Sita – Warrior of Mithila‘.

Written by Amish, this book is book number 2 from the Ram Chandra Series. Amish is previously well known for his Shiva trilogy series which had a gripping storyline.

These series tell us the story from the Era of Lord Ram. Book 1 of these series was released about more than a year ago which left all the readers on an interesting turn in it’s story almost begging for more!

So yesterday night was spent in indulging in the things I love! A rainy day, a cosy reading nook and a lovely book! What else could a girl want? Especially one who loves to read! 😊

So that’s it regarding yesterday. Today has already arrived and it is meant to be another beautiful day, full of interesting surprises I am sure! Any particular event that made yesterday special for you? Do let me know. Let’s celebrate life’s little pleasures! 😊

Wish you a beautiful day. Love, Pooja!

“Life is better when you are happy!”

Hello!

Hope you guys are having an amazing week! Although I am writing a post on things you should do more often, I am going to talk a bit about the picture above. I simply liked the kid in the picture on seeing him! His colourful dress is a treat to the eyes & isn’t that smile simply contagious? The picture completely justifies the word ‘happiness’, thereby making it a mandatory share on my blog! 😊

I prefer a couple of lovely websites for free stock images (Since I don’t want to get into any legal complications) to use for my blog posts. Using these till I actually start around clicking my own ones. This particular one is taken from Upsplash. It has an incredible collection of HD quality pictures captured by photographers which are free to use. Do check out the website sometime to see the beautiful pictures and boost your mood! 😊 Have you seen better ones? Feel free to share where you get your blog post images from!

Coming back to the blog post topic! Today is a Wednesday. Inspired by the trending wellness Wednesday hashtag, I have decided to share 3 things that you should do more often. They are guaranteed to give you good results in the long run by affecting your mental and physical wellbeing. Read on, wellness is just half a blog post away;

  1. Notice life’s little pleasures – Be it a sweet smiling baby, a beautiful butterfly or a breathtaking rainbow, these everyday little pleasures add sunshine to any normal day. Often times we ignore these little joys and focus on life’s problems and stresses as they are always at the back of our minds. Make it a point to live completely in the present moment and on encountering joy, stop and appreciate it fully.
  2. Stop comparing – “Do not compare somebody’s tomorrow to your today!” Comparison kills creativity and originality. Each person is unique and one rule cannot apply to us all. To add to it all, each individual person works by his or her own unique time zone. If we are all different, how can we compare one person’s achievements or failures to another one’s? Think over it. Comparison only gives rise to negativity. Compete with your own self and strive to do your best!
  3. Practice affirmations – We all see and hear affirmations being talked about on social media. Their power cannot be overstated. Start and end your day with affirmations. They can simply be single positive statements you say to yourself or even a collection of some of them together. The key is to feel good. If you haven’t started this practice already, start now!

Remember that focussing on negativity and problems help no one. Let them go. Let the past stay where it should, in the past. These 3 practices can help you enjoy the present and to become more aware of your surroundings. See life through rose-tinted glasses!

Have a positive day. Love, Pooja.
